New TxtWatcher Maps Feature Also Tracks Kids’ Locations When Texting, And Alerts Parents If Kids Texting At A Specified Location.
Boston, MA (PRWEB) March 13, 2013
TxtWatcher today announced the availability of TxtWatcher Maps, a new location-based feature of the TxtWatcher text monitoring app for Android mobile phones. TxtWatcher is a text message monitoring app installed by parents on their child’s Android mobile phone. It monitors the child’s text messages, and alerts parents to behaviors such as cyber-bullying, sexting, alcohol and drug use. TxtWatcher Maps is a new feature of TxtWatcher that identifies the location of a child’s phone when they send or receive text messages.
Key capabilities of TxtWatcher Maps include:
* Tracking – shows historic locations where text messages were sent or received.
* Proximity Alert – sends an alert to parents if text messages are sent or received at a particular location, such as school or the library
* Texting While Driving Alert – sends an alert to parents if text messages are sent while moving or driving faster than 15 miles per hour.
Tracking
With Tracking, parents can monitor the location of their child’s phone when text messages are sent or received. Depending on the type of plan parents have signed up for, Maps Tracking data will be shown for different time periods:
* Complementary Plan – tracking information can be viewed for the past 24 hours
* Family Plan – tracking information can be viewed for the past 30 days
* Premium Plan – tracking information can be viewed for the past 60 days
Proximity Alert
With Proximity Alert, parents can opt in to receive notifications if their child sends or receives text messages within 1500 yards of a specified address or location. Parents enter the locations for which they would like to receive alerts. This capability is only available for paid accounts (Family/Premium Plans).
Texting While Driving Alert
Though TxtWatcher cannot tell if the person with the phone is actually driving, parents can opt in to receive notifications if their child sends text messages while moving faster than 15mph. TxtWatcher estimates speed by determining the distance between the origin of two text messages sent or received less than 10 minutes apart. This capability is only available for paid accounts (Family/Premium Plans).
How TxtWatcher Maps Works
TxtWatcher is a passive location-aware feature for Android mobile phones. TxtWatcher utilizes two different Android location services to determine the best last known phone location at the time a message is sent or received – the GPS Service and the Network Location Provider Service. Accuracy will vary based upon the activation state of these services including network connectivity and the physical location of the phone.

PRE-APPROVED QUOTE FROM TXTWATCHER USER AND PARENT

ABOUT TXTWATCHER
TxtWatcher was founded by parents who were lucky enough to intercept some of their children’s text conversations concerning illicit activities that could have been life altering. Based on this experience, TxtWatcher was born with a vision of providing a service that helps parents understand what their children are communicating via text messaging. By monitoring their children’s most common form of communication, TxtWatcher’s customers find the service to be a powerful parental tool and it gives them peace of mind.
The TxtWatcher Parental Text Message Monitoring service silently monitors Android smartphones for sent and received text messages, scanning and alerting parents to behaviors such as cyber-bullying, sexting, alcohol and drug use. At the heart of TxtWatcher is a comprehensive, patent-pending translation engine called “SmartAlec” that converts text message slang into language that parents can understand. Currently, TxtWatcher.com is installed on thousands of mobiles phones tracking hundreds of thousands of text messages per month.
